The Story
Someone invested in him. Now he invests in them.
Coach Lance Branchman has coached player development and strength and conditioning since 2012 and founded Branchman Athletics to help athletes discover their potential and build the confidence, discipline and work ethic to pursue their goals.
The motivation is personal. When Lance was a kid, someone invested in him, guided him and made a difference in his life. That experience shaped how he coaches today: he knows the impact one person can have when they believe in a young athlete, and he wants to be that person for the next generation.
The Philosophy
Court to Gym. Gym back to the court.
Lance believes athletic development should never happen in isolation. What an athlete builds in the weight room should show up as better movement on the court or field, and the demands of competition should guide what happens in the weight room.
Athletes are developed from the ground up: foot and ankle strength, knee stability, hip mobility and rotation, core strength, balance, coordination, acceleration, deceleration, jumping, landing and explosive power. Training includes strength work, calisthenics, plyometrics, speed development and sport-specific drills such as medicine ball rotational throws, explosive jumps and multidirectional work.
Youth Athletes
Where you start is not where you finish.
One of the most rewarding parts of Lance's work is watching a young athlete develop from the beginning. Some arrive with advanced skills; others need help with fundamentals, coordination, confidence and understanding movement. Lance takes pride in working with kids who are just starting out, and with young people who already have a vision, whether that is college basketball, the next level, or another sport entirely.
Basketball is a major part of Lance's background, but the work extends to football, lacrosse, track and other disciplines. See how youth athlete training and basketball training are organized at Trinity.
Experience
From youth to the professional level.
Lance works with youth, middle school and high school athletes as well as college-level and professional basketball players. His coaching experience includes high school basketball programs: girls varsity basketball at Gahr High School and boys basketball at Cabrillo High School.
He also trains adults who want to improve strength, conditioning, movement and overall fitness. Explore strength and conditioning and athletic performance at Trinity, with sessions on The Floor.
The Approach
Technique, intent and coachability.
Lance emphasizes proper technique, intentional training, progressive development, consistency, accountability and coachability. Athletes should understand what they are doing, why they are doing it and how each exercise supports their goals.
As a husband and father of four, Lance knows how much encouragement and positive influence matter to young people. He works to build an environment where athletes feel respected, understand the value of hard work and see improvement as a process.
The Vision
A nonprofit and a facility under one roof.
Lance's long-term vision goes beyond individual sessions. He wants to establish a nonprofit that expands access to guidance, training and support for young people, and to build his own athletic performance facility with basketball court space and a weight room, so skill work and strength work happen together.
Outside coaching, Lance spends time with his family and with technology, RC cars, drones and mechanical projects. The same mindset carries into his coaching: find the opportunity, make a plan and put in the work.
Is Lance Right For You?
Is Lance the right coach for your athlete?

- Your child is just starting out and needs fundamentals, coordination and confidence.
- You are a basketball player working toward high school, college or the next level.
- You want speed, explosiveness and strength that transfer directly to your sport.
- You play football, lacrosse, track or another sport and want structured athletic development.
- You are an adult who wants to improve strength, conditioning and movement.

Strength is the foundation everything else stacks on. Trinity's strength & conditioning trainers build athletes, professionals, and lifelong residents who want to move heavy, recover hard, and keep doing it for decades.
01
ASSESSMENT FIRST
Movement screen, training history, current lifts. Your trainer builds the program around your body — not a template they hand to every client.
02
PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD THAT HOLDS UP
Programmed cycles with deloads built in. You'll see the numbers move week over week without burning out.
03
CONDITIONING THAT DOESN'T KILL YOUR LIFTS
Energy-system work paired with strength training, not against it. Capacity grows. Recovery improves. Strength stays.
04
TRAINING ON THE FLOOR
Hands-on cues, video review, real-time form correction. Every session has a trainer who's watching.
Who Lance’s clients tend to be
- Lifters chasing real PRs — not gym numbers
- Athletes whose sport demands repeatable power
- Professionals returning to the iron after years away
- Anyone tired of training without a program
