The Story

Sports, injuries and a love of how the body works.

Sports have been part of Sheila Wilson's life for as long as Sheila can remember. Sheila played indoor volleyball and still loves playing beach volleyball today, and fitness became a natural extension of that.

Sheila has also had a share of injuries, which meant a lot of time in physical therapy. Instead of pulling Sheila away from movement, those experiences made Sheila fall in love with learning how the body works and what it takes to return to the things you love. That is why Sheila coaches.

The Specialty

Strength training for beginners in Long Beach.

Strength training is Sheila's specialty, particularly for female beginners and anyone who wants to learn how to move well, get stronger and feel more confident in the gym. Sheila loves helping people build strength that carries beyond workouts: strength that makes them more capable in everyday life and lets them keep doing what they love.

Sheila knows how intimidating a weight room can feel. The job is to meet you where you are without letting where you are today determine where you can go. Explore strength and conditioning and women's training at Trinity. Sessions take place on The Floor.

The Approach

Understand why you are doing it.

Sheila is hands-on with technique and form, adjusts when needed and will challenge you to do things you may once have thought were impossible. More than anything, Sheila wants you to understand why you are doing what you are doing.

The aim is for strength to improve how you move through life, not only the hour you spend in a session, and for you to become confident enough in what you have learned to walk into a weight room on your own and know what to do. One of Sheila's clients has reached exactly that point and is now so passionate about training that she is considering becoming a trainer herself.

Education & Competition

A kinesiology degree, a DPT goal and a winning first show.

Sheila earned a B.S. in kinesiology and is currently on the path toward applying to DPT school. Sheila also interned at Champions Quest Los Alamitos Sports Academy, where Sheila loved working with youth athletes. See how youth athlete training works at Trinity.

On the competitive side, Sheila completed a first NPC Bikini competition and won Overall Novice. Sheila is a trainer, not a physical therapist or a medical provider, so talk to your doctor before starting a new program, especially with an injury or a health condition.

How Sheila Trains

One-on-one, semi-private and couples training.

Sheila offers 1:1 personal training, semi-private and couples training, programming and nutrition guidance. Explore nutrition coaching at Trinity. Outside the gym, Sheila is playing beach volleyball, discovering a new coffee shop, catching a sunset at the beach, trying a new food spot or hanging out with cats, and describes themself as a pretty badass ping-pong player.

STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
AT TRINITY.

All Strength & Conditioning trainers →

Strength is the foundation everything else stacks on. Trinity's strength & conditioning trainers build athletes, professionals, and lifelong residents who want to move heavy, recover hard, and keep doing it for decades.

01

ASSESSMENT FIRST

Movement screen, training history, current lifts. Your trainer builds the program around your body — not a template they hand to every client.

02

PROGRESSIVE OVERLOAD THAT HOLDS UP

Programmed cycles with deloads built in. You'll see the numbers move week over week without burning out.

03

CONDITIONING THAT DOESN'T KILL YOUR LIFTS

Energy-system work paired with strength training, not against it. Capacity grows. Recovery improves. Strength stays.

04

TRAINING ON THE FLOOR

Hands-on cues, video review, real-time form correction. Every session has a trainer who's watching.

Who Sheila’s clients tend to be

  • Lifters chasing real PRs — not gym numbers
  • Athletes whose sport demands repeatable power
  • Professionals returning to the iron after years away
  • Anyone tired of training without a program
